About
Senior Fullstack & AI Engineer · Malta
Background
Software engineer based in Malta, with over six years building backend systems across fintech, SaaS, edtech, health tech, EPoS, and applied AI. My career has taken me from early-stage startups in Lagos to a remote senior role at a product trusted by hundreds of thousands of creators globally. Along the way, my focus shifted from writing code to designing architecture, owning infrastructure, and building AI systems. Most of what I build is invisible to the people who depend on it — which is exactly how it should be.
What I'm doing now
Senior Fullstack Engineer at ThriveCart, a leading US-based checkout and cart platform for digital products and courses. Recent work includes migrating a synchronous webhook system serving 60+ third-party integrations to an async SQS-backed AWS Lambda pipeline. I also built a new webhook system that processes millions of transactions weekly, increasing reliability and maintainability, and an MCP server that exposes ThriveCart's core functionality to LLMs via OAuth 2.0.
How I think about engineering
A few things I've come to believe, from working on systems that actually had to run:
- Reliability is a feature. An unreliable system at 10× the speed is still a broken system. I care about the infrastructure work that's never demoed but determines whether a product holds up.
- Understand before you copy. Most bad decisions come from applying patterns without understanding why they exist. I'd rather slow down and reason through a problem than reach for a familiar solution.
- The gap between AI demos and production is wider than people admit. Latency, cost, failure modes, data quality — these aren't afterthoughts. They're the actual engineering.
- The best code is the code you don't have to explain. Clarity over cleverness, every time.
Outside work
Recently started learning French. Preparing for a Master's in Artificial Intelligence. On Medium, I write about AI, PHP, Laravel, and software engineering. On Substack, personal reflections on work, ambition, human behavior, and the decisions that shape our lives.
Quote of the day
"When you shift your focus from outcomes to systems, comparison stops being judgment."
